Advocating for Advancement – We can do this together

advocating for advancementStep up and raise your voice for those who are unable.

Pancreatic Cancer is a Bipartisan Issue

“Human spirit is much more powerful than human disease.” (Randy Push)

“When you can’t make them see the light, make them feel the heat.” (Ronald Reagan)

Be your own advocate, not just for yourself, but carry your voice loud and clear for those who are unable. Together we need to advocate for advancement.

There is no better feeling that being part of a movement where your passion plays the leading role. Walking in the sun towards Capitol Hill; it’s not self-serving. I want to make a difference, I want the elected officials to understand how devastating pancreatic cancer can be.

Being told by a doctor to go home, we have no options, should NEVER be prescribed. But somehow that’s what my father was told, and succumbed to this disease 7 weeks later.  As approx. 45,000-50,000 people every year are given the same outcome. It’s the norm, not the exception. This needs to change.

You learn through these experiences that life isn’t always fair. Soon after, you realize that it’s not ok to settle and be complacent. You want to make sure you fuel the fire and keep the fight going.

So many, including my father, didn’t have a voice to advocate for himself. I have made it my goal to have the voice, to speak up, and educate people on pancreatic cancer. My guess is most folks aren’t aware of the callousness of this disease until it’s too late.

It’s time to be informed, get the resources, and be aware of what this disease is. Let the elected officials see the faces of the families affected by pancreatic cancer. They have the resources, they need to be creative, they need to save lives. Status quo and 9% survival rate is not acceptable.
