CHALLENGE

Home Health RNs have been a very challenging occupation for recruiters to satisfy. The demand for home care is rising quickly as the population grows older on average. Not surprisingly home health RNs are continuing to take a larger percentage of the available registered nurse workforce. Penn Care at Home was tasked with making a number of hires in this difficult recruitment landscape.

SOLUTION

Up to this point, in-person recruiting events have been core to their strategy. To reinvigorate recruitment efforts, SCG undertook a review of various platforms for conducting a Virtual Career Fair. The strategy was to give the candidates the ability to chat nurse-to -nurse about a home care career from the comfort of their own home. In a year-long process of reviewing and comparing platforms the field was narrowed to three. Also discussed was the opportunity to build a proprietary platform. This option proved to be both expensive and time-consuming to complete. So SCG proposed the mobile-optimized VariousThingsLive.com. With strong technical support, the platform was easy to customize and user friendly both for the recruiters and the candidates. During a test run nurses were easily able to navigate the software. Promotion targeting local talent with a mobile/social campaign, eBlasts, direct mail, and job postings produced great results.

RESULTS

The Virtual Career Fair was a real success with 160 registrations. Reminder messages kept the number of actual online attendees high and many were converted. Recruiters were easily able to qualify candidates, schedule interviews and determine the source for each. Its success evolved into a second virtual career fair and the purchase of an annual contract.
